Customer care · Materials & care

Care, by material.

Most of our pieces ask for very little: shade from harsh sun, a dry room, a soft cloth and a quick response to spills. The rest is specific to the material, so it is written per material below.

Shade and steady air

Direct sun fades fabric and leather and moves solid wood. Keep pieces out of strong sun and away from air-conditioning vents and heaters.

Spills, at once

Blot, never rub. A spill wiped within a minute rarely leaves a trace on any of our materials.

The right cloth

A soft, dry or barely damp cloth does almost all of it. No abrasive pads, no silicone sprays, no solvents.

Material by material

Indoor Sintered Stone, up close

Indoor Sintered Stone

  • Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent on a soft cloth.
  • Resistant to heat, scratches and stains in daily use; still use boards and trivets so the surface stays pristine.
  • Avoid cleaners containing hydrofluoric acid; everyday kitchen cleaners are fine.
  • Never sit, stand or lean heavily on an overhang.

Indoor Suar Wood, up close

Indoor Suar Wood

  • Wipe spills at once with a cloth barely dampened in water, then dry.
  • Use coasters and mats under hot, wet or sharp objects.
  • Keep out of direct sun and away from air-conditioning vents; wood moves and mellows with light and humidity, and even exposure keeps the tone consistent.
  • No silicone sprays, wax polishes or abrasive cleaners on finished surfaces.

  • Keep away from direct sun and heat sources, which dry and fade the hide.
  • Natural marks, creases and tonal variation are the hide itself, not defects.
  • Condition only with a product made for the finish, tested first on a hidden area.

Good to know

Natural materials vary and change. Grain, veining and tone differ from piece to piece, teak mellows with light and leather softens with use. That is the material, not wear. Care products we use ourselves are in the catalogue.

Care questions

What people ask about care

Can I use a household cleaner?

On stone, metal and sealed surfaces a mild detergent in warm water is fine. On wood, leather and fabric use water only, or a product made for that material, tested first on a hidden area.

How do I stop teak from changing colour?

You cannot stop it entirely, and you would not want to: teak mellows as it lives with light. Even exposure, out of direct sun, keeps the change gentle and uniform.

A cushion has lost its shape. Is that a fault?

Loose cushions settle with use and recover when turned and plumped. A cushion that has collapsed within the warranty period is something to tell us about.
